How we research, check and recommend the products and services in our buying guides.
Who writes and checks
Every buying guide is written by a member of our team and reviewed by a named reviews editor before it is published. A separate checker then compares every fact against its source. Nothing goes live until both steps are done.
Prices and rates carry the date we checked them. We re-check them about every 30 days, and sooner when we hear that something has changed.
How picks are chosen
We start from public information: specifications, rates, fees and terms as the provider publishes them. We then look at real user experiences from forums and written reviews. Where we draw on what people have said, we paraphrase it and credit the source.
We tell you what each option is good for and where it falls short, including the cases where a free option is the better choice.
What we never do
- We do not accept paid placements. No one pays to be listed or to rank higher.
- We do not use affiliate links on these pages.
- We never steer you away from free official help. Where a free VA or government option exists, we point you to it first.
Corrections
