“More than 1,000 retired and current service women marched Saturday night to pay tribute to all women who have worn an American military uniform. The ceremony commemorated the 15th Anniversary of the Women’s Memorial at the gates of Arlington Cemetery.

The service women ranged widely in generation. Veterans from WWII up to those who severed during the most recent wars in Iraq, and Afghanistan all walked from the Lincoln Memorial to the Women’s Memorial at the gates of Arlington Cemetery.

The event organizers hope to encourage more women to join the military, and remind those who have served that their service is and will always be honored.”
