THERE IS THIS LEGEND SO TO SPEAK THAT SHE LENT ANOTHER SOLDIER 3 BUCKS AND LEFT ON LEAVE DURING THE HORRIFIC INCIDENT. WHILE THE SOLDIER WAS ON LEAVE HE CAME BACK REALIZING HER HAD OWED HER 3 BUCKS. SO HE PINNED THE 3 DOLLARS ON THE WALL ALONG W A CRUCIFIX AND IT HAD BEEN THERE EVER SINCE. WELL THE LAST UNIT TO SERVE AT THIS AIRFIELD WAS MY UNIT A co 640TH ASB AFTER WE LEFT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN OVER BY CIVILIANS, WHO I FELT WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE 3DOLLARS. I HAVE THEM ALONG WITH THE CRUCIFIX ME AND A COUPLE OF MY FELLOW SOLDIERS HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ANYONE WHO IS RELATED TO SPC WALKER, ZANDRA I WOULD LIKE TO RETURN THE MONEY TO HER AS A SIGN OF CLOSURE AND TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT…PLEASE RESPOND RICKSAND69@GMAIL.COM THANK YOU VERY MUCH SGT SANDOVAL, RICHARD US. 5. SSG Beau Messer says:

SPC Walker was in my Battalion. I was in Bco 615th. The day SPC Walker lost her life will always be a part of who I am as a Soldier. I was standing outside the Hangar on the Airfield and watched the Rocket that hit the MWR and Mortaly Injured SPC Walker fly over my head and hit the building. We rushed into the harden structure of the Hangar and 10 minutes later there was a call on the radio for help at the impact site. My battle SPC Rodgers and I, SPC Messer at the time, were the CLS qualified Soldiers who volunteered to run to SPC Walker and another Soldiers Aid. We sprinted 300 meters in full battle gear, unfortunately by the time we arrived it was too late. The medics had arrived and were carrying SPC Walker and the other Soldier past us. All we could do is watch as they drove away with them. I think about that day still and will never forget. The Cold Steel Battalion will always remember her.

  6. Nuala Taylor says:

I confirm that Zandra T. Walker was in A CO 615th Aviation Support Battalion, 1 ACB, 1 CAV Division, because I served every guarding duty rotation with her. I still miss the hell outta her and think about her every day.
