Female Contestant in 2010 “Best Warrior” Competition

29 Soldiers out of 205,000 compete to be “Best Warrior”– One Female Contestant!

Sgt. 1st Class Jacquelyn Craig is not only the only female competing to be the Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for the Army Reserve –she’s an Iraq vet, mother of three –and a master trainer in the Army Combatives program currently working on her Bachelor’s degree in laboratory technology. In her spare time, she is competing in the Army Reserve’s Best Warrior Competition.

This competition takes place at Fort McCoy, Wis., from 25 to 30 July. It’s an exciting four days filled with weapons training, road marches –and even an opportunity to embed and go out to the field.

Hometown:Montgomery, Ala.; now lives in Radcliff, Ky.

Unit: Army Reserve Careers Division, Fort Knox, Ky.; career counselor

Education:

  • graduated Jefferson Davis High School, Montgomery, Ala., 1985
  • graduated Pikes Peak Community College, Colorado Springs, Colo., 1993, with an associate’s degree in medical services

Personal:

  • single mother of three children
  • member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels philanthropic organization
  • enjoys running, art, history and Sports and Medical Science

Military overview:

  • 14 yrs service
  • mobilized stateside to Fort Knox, Ky., 2003-2005, as a medical lab NCO
  • Level 3 Combatives master trainer
  • father, niece and nephew have served
