“We had a job to do. We did our job and we went home. We never talked about it. It was OVER. Until 2004, it was over. There were so many painful parts. You just didn’t talk about the experience. Now, we go to the lighter parts because there are so many parts you will never forget. It is just too painful.
When we left Normandy, we believed we had a bit of Normandy in our hearts. Each year, we have been invited back to La Havre and Picauville. It feels like we are coming home. We return to commemorate the Allied Invasion on D-Day.”
